SS Athletics Shines at Lee Valley Minithon – December 7th, 2024

On Saturday, December 7th, 2024, SS Athletics proudly showcased 35 young athletes from Year 3 to Year 7 at the Lee Valley Minithon.

This exciting event allowed participants to choose their preferred events, testing their strengths while also encouraging them to try new disciplines. The Minithon is all about gaining valuable experience, building confidence, and having fun, and our athletes truly embraced the spirit of the day.

Competing against over 300 athletes aged 8 to 12, representing some of the region's largest and most competitive clubs, our team delivered outstanding performances. From our youngest competitors to our oldest, everyone displayed remarkable talent and determination.

Highlights from the Day

Zara (Year 7, Under 13 Girls): Zara smashed her personal best (PB) and set a new SS Athletics club record in the 60m sprint, clocking an impressive 8.87 seconds.

Sam (Year 5, Under 11): Sam achieved a PB in the Turbo Javelin, breaking the Lee Valley Centre Record (previously set in 2018) with a phenomenal throw of 23 meters.

These incredible achievements highlight the dedication and hard work of our athletes and coaches.
